Palo Alto is named after a tall redwood, and is a charter city located in the Northeast of Santa Clara County, of the San Francisco Bay Area. The city has parts of Stanford University located within it, and shares a history with the University. Palo Alto was founded by Leland Stanford, Sr who named the University he later founded after his deceased son, Leland Stanford, Jr.
Palo Alto is one of the most educated areas of the United States, and the city is among the most expensive places to live in the country. HP or Hewlett Packard has its corporate HQ in Palo Alto, as do many other tech companies.
